New watch Molnija Komandisrkie
Watches made from a famous Soviet Rocket RSD-10 (SS-20) are on sale again!
The history of this watch began in the 70-ies when one of the engineering departments in the USSR was given a task to design and create a self-propelled launcher with a ballistic rocket. This mounting was to overpass Russian impassibility of roads and provide the rocket with the minimum time of preparation for launch.
Testing of the Soviet missile complex called RSD-10 “Pioneer” (mid-range missile, an equivalent of SS-20 in western classification) began on the missile testing range “Kapustin Yar” on September 21st, 1974.
By January 9th, 1976 and after 21 successful launches RSD-10 became an official weapon of the Soviet Army. Missile’s warhead was either a single piece, 1 Megaton in power; or made out of three parts, 150 kg each, with individual aiming capability. The minimum aiming precision was 500 meters and the maximum range was 5500 km.
Up until 1991 these missiles had been on duty all across the Soviet Union. For more than 10 years of use, the American secret service was unable to obtain even a single picture of the missile.
According to the arms reduction treaty between USSR and USA, RSD-10 was taken off the duty and most of the missiles have been utilized. However, the story of the famous missile was far from being over. It was reincarnated as the material for watch body, made from its titanium. Such space material has become the symbol of the uniqueness and style is a perfect fit for the watch, also making them virtually unbreakable. We are offering 3 different styles of watches “Made from the Soviet SS-20 missile”.
