A tiny wooden disc is the feature that makes the 2500 watches in the Aquatimer Chronograph “Cousteau Divers” limited edition such a sought-after rarity. The wood was taken from the interior of what is probably the world’s most famous research vessel, the “Calypso”. For it was with her that “Commander” Jacques-Yves Cousteau spent so many years sailing the Seven Seas. The authentic mementos depict the ship in silhouette and are set in the watch’s solid steel back cover, where they are visible behind a sapphire glass. The watch is suitable for diving to depths of 120 m and, like all the watches in the Aquatimer line, is equipped with a practical rotating inner bezel that can be used to set and track dive time. The striking ocean blue dial and the dark blue rubber strap provide an eye-catching contrast to the orange hands.Part of the proceeds from each Aquatimer Chronograph “Cousteau Divers” will go to the Cousteau Society, a non-profit organization that works under the aegis of UNESCO. Since 2004, it has been cooperating successfully with Iwc to protect the oceans and preserve tropical coral reefs.
