I took my Speedmaster watch to EL CORTE INGLES S.A. C/ Raimundo Fdez. Villaverde, 79 ES-28003 Madrid, to have it repaired.
After a few weeks, El Corte Inglés explained me over the phone, that in order to have my watch back in perfect shape again, I'll have no other choice but changing the whole case because otherwise Omega will not certified water proof, because its corroded case.
My watch is a 1974 year model, it belonged to my father, I love this watch, to me having to change the case was a difficult decision because some how I knew the watch was not going to be the same, the watch was working fine, the only mechanical problem was that I have to wind the clock twice a day so it won't stop, hexalite glass was scratched and the outer trim TACHIMETRE black colour faded away as you can see at the photos attached, but the watch was beatiful as it was, to me it was the most beautiful Speedmaster model ever made.
The problems that I'm having regarding the job Omega made are these:
THE NEW CASE: It is not the original one for this particular year model, the Tachymeter outer rim is not the same, the new one belongs to a newer year model, mine has bigger letters and does not have an accent mark over the TACHIMÉTRE. It is also shiny, I´m not sure if it is because it is brand new or my year model was different the bracelet now compare to case is taotally different it looks like a fake watch.
CLOCK FACE: It is not the same, mine has a T swiss made T at the bottom, the new one has not.
THE BACK CASE COVER: It is different also, it belongs to a newer year model, The horse is much bigger, the OMEGA symbol is bigger and the squares to remove the the cover are also bigger.
Omega did not aware me about changing old parts for new compatible ones,
I want my watch to look just like it was as its original.
Please take a look of the photos and you'll see what a mean.
I feel very sad because the watch that my father always wore, does not look the same anymore.
If I knew this was going to happen, I will never send it to the Omega shop, If I wanted to own a new SPEEDMASTER model, to me it would be much easier just to buy a new one, and have the one I inherited from my father at a safe place.
Please help me, and also let me know what you are going to do about it.
I told my Omega dealer the problem and they told me they were going to talk to you, but I still have no response from them or you.
Thank you in advance for your time, understanding and advice.
