Opiniones sobre un artículo sobre Seiko

Daniel Nicolás, colaborador de RE, ha escrito un artículo sobre Seiko en el suplemento Summum de ABC y me ha pedido opinión sobre el mismo. Yo le he dicho que lo mejor era traerlo aquí y que fueran los seikoadictos los que dieran su veredicto. Yo he detectado algunas imprecisiones, y estoy seguro que vosotros seréis capaces de encontrar más. Sólo os pido que emitáis vuestras sinceras opiniones con respeto, que además todos aprenderemos.

La verdad es de elogiar su inconformismo y su apertura a la crítica constructiva.

Hay que ponerse muy pejiguero para encontrar inexactitudes, y éstas no son relevantes, lo que es un logro del autor. Creo que, línea editorial de fondo aparte (que cada uno puede y debe tener la suya, faltaría más), es un artículo muy bien documentado y muy por encima de lo que suele leerse en la prensa generalista.

El publico en general "no entendido" que lo lea no se va a fijar en los gazapos, y por contra es un escrito en general "ameno" ... teniendo en cuenta que el tema es árido de por sí ...
Es más dificil de lo que parece escribir sobre relojes, sobre todo hoy en día sin aburrir al lector. Tras muchas hojas escritas sobre algunos relojes, y en vista del éxito obtenido, ya hace un tiempo que visto lo visto, he decidido escribir más en plan anécdota sobre los relojes que en plan "tesis" dado que el esfuerzo de documentación, investigación, tiempo, etc es enorme y el éxito cosechado escaso, y eso en foros en donde el "target" está claro y el público se le presupone "seguidor" de los mismos .... pues no es así.
En la actualidad en la Red se lee poco y rápido, y si en el primer párrafo no enganchas al lector, será difícil que siga leyendo, y si además encuentra cierta extensión en el mismo, directamente deja de leer y se va a las fotos ... por lo que has fracasado en el intento.
Así que escribir hoy en día sobre relojes para el gran público y que te lo publiquen o bien tienes enchufe o bien es que el escrito es entrentenido ...

Después de leer el artículo de Daniel Nicolás, lo primero que me ha parecido es que se trata de un buen conocedor y admirador de la marca SEIKO. El artículo tiene un punto de pasión por la marca que, en mi opinión, se nota bastante. No es una crítica, pues el que esto escribe tiene una humilde colección de 40 relojes de los que 29 son SEIKO.
Quizás, yo hubiera incluido el mérito de haber sido capaces de ser los primeros en poner al alcance del común de los mortales (por precio) relojes buenos, fiables, para todos los gustos, es decir, buenos relojes. Después vinieron otros (casio, por ejemplo con los digitales), pero ellos fueron los primeros. Basta con echar un vistazo a "la bahía" para ver la proporción de SEIKO vintage a la venta, en comparación con el resto de marcas.

Quizás habría incluido en el artículo alguna referencia por ejemplo al Sr. Tokunaga y el lugar que Seiko ha ocupado en la historia en cuanto a relojes profesionales de buceo, o los increíbles diseños de Tanaka, o en ser la primera manufactura en comercializar en masa el primer reloj cronógrafo automático a finales de los '60, ..... en fin hay tanto y tan ligado a la historia de la relojería.

En líneas generales está bastante bien redactado y como ha dicho algún compañero muy entretenido.

Como dicen los compañeros, es un buen artículo para que los "no iniciados" en el mundillo conozcan un poco más a Seiko, y van que no es solo una marca de relojes baratos. :

Aún así, creo que el planteamiento referido al Astron como el primer reloj de cuarzo comercializado es un poco erróneo, ya que da la sensación de que los relojes de cuarzo eran más baratos que los automáticos desde el principio, y eso no es así. El primer Astron salió en una tirada bastante limitada, y costaba una pequeña fortuna (lo mismo que un utilitario de la época). Y no es extraño ver anuncios de los años '70 donde los relojes de cuarzo eran más caros que los automáticos (o al menos de precio igual o similar), porque representaban la tecnología más avanzada del momento, ya que eran/son mucho más precisos que los mecánicos (y eso era algo muy valorado y buscado en aquellos tiempos). No fue hasta los años '80, con la irrupción de los digitales de cuarzo y los Swatch, que los relojes de cuarzo pasaron a ser relojes más baratos, gracias al abaratamiento de la tecnología y a los procesos de industrialización. La "crisis del cuarzo" vino marcada en un primer momento porque los cuarzos eran más precisos que los mecánicos, y eso era lo que buscaba la gente; y más adelante porque eran significativamente más baratos que los mecánicos. Pero ese "abaratamiento" de los cuarzos se dio al cabo de bastantes años, debido al progreso de la tecnología, como ya he dicho, y a la transformación de los procesos de fabricación de los relojes (como indica acertadamente el artículo).

En cuanto a los hitos que se han quedado en el "cajón", destacar dos: 1) primer cronógrafo automático del mundo con embrague vertical y rueda de pilares (compartido y disputado con El Primero de Zenith y un movimiento de Tissot del que no recuerdo el nombre); 2) primer cronógrafo analógico de cuarzo del mundo en 1983.


De todas formas, es un buen artículo sobre la marca y su importancia en el mundo relojero, ameno y didático. :

Para mí Seiko es una marca que cada día que pasa me tiene más enamorado y en mi opinión es la marca, no suiza, que más ha hecho por la relojería a nivel mundial. A mi me ha gustado bastante, la verdad. Lo único que cambiaría sería para añadir algunas cosas, pero también entiendo que un artículo no da para añadir mucho más sin hacerlo muy extenso.

Me ha parecido ameno de leer, y he aprendido alguna cosilla que no sabía, así que gracias por compartirlo.

Cuando compré mi Omega Constellation de cuarzo lo que yo quería en realidad era un Speedy pero en aquel momento me decepcionó un montón cuando me dijeron que era de cuerda. Me quedé muy sorprendido en negativo. En esa época un reloj de cuerda o automático era "lo normal" Hay que pensar que de aquella no existía internet y había muy poca información accesible para los usuarios "normales". El hecho de que ambos relojes costaran casi lo mismo (escribo de memoria y creo que eran alrededor de 180,000 pesetas de entonces) me hizo desistir del Speedmaster e irme al Constellation cuarzo. En aquel momento, tal y como has comentado, se consideraba a los cuarzos como la cumbre tecnológica.

El artículo me ha parecido ameno e interesante con algunos pequeños matices que ya han hecho los compañeros.

Entiendo el tipo de público al que va dirigido y las limitaciones de un artículo así, pero no se habla de la verdadera historia de seiko....en el artículo parece que solo existe a partir de los 80 y el cuarzo.

Un buen artículo, la verdad es que cada vez que leemos algo sobre relojes en la prensa generalista suele ser una mezcla de publirreportaje + bazofia y es agradable encontrar algo bien documentado.
